666!
nope, not the devil in me… but a very very lucky number for us.
Secrets was published 6 weeks ago
Secrets has spent 6 weeks in the national Top 10
Secrets is number 6 in this week’s chart!
I’m just back from a week in Spain - and top of my to-do list is to update you with all my news, photos and videos…
In the meantime, follow this link… It’ll take you to my first short story written for radio, which BBC Radio 4 commissioned. Many of you will know that I famously HATE writing short stories - give me 140,000 words to play with, any day!
For ‘Fish And Chips‘, I was allowed 2,000 words…and I was told “No sex and no swearing, Ms North”
Listen and enjoy…and please let me know what you think!

Hi Freya,
Lovely to hear from you. My daughter bought your latest book while in London recently. One of her best friends is called Freya - she’s Scandinavian, and I’ve often wondered whether you’re originally from somewhere chilly! I’ve read quite a few of your books over the years, and definitely remember reading Pillow Talk. I enjoy your “voice” and am looking forward to reading Secrets. If you haven’t already, take a look at my website (www.francescaprescott.com). Would love you to leave a message on my guestbook
Lots of love,
Francesca

I discovered Fen a few weeks ago and straight away became a fan of yours… I saw Secrets on sale and bought it.

Grabed this book as a ‘last minute holiday read’ at the supermarket. Haven’t read you before and didn’t pay much attention when choosing book. Was very surpised when reading (in Skiathos)to find it set, not just the North, but my old home county.
My Grandmother lived in Saltburn and I was ‘dragged up’ 5 miles away.
Your descriptions and attention to geographics are amazing and I felt myself back there with the characters … however there is one glaring mistake to a local …. Middlesbrough - the ‘Boro - is a town not a city !!!
Other than that, loved it and I’m off to buy ‘Home Truths’

I am spellbound by this book, it was a fantastic and inspiring read. Couldnt put it down. I am Tess! Well i know i am not but that little voice in her head, was a voice reawakend in mine, and I am buzzing. Will hang on to this book forever (sorry friends, school fetes and charity shops).

Sue and Tracey - thanks so much for your lovely, lovely messages - you too, Jane P. Jane I think I needed to refer to Boro as ‘city’ because Tess would’ve seen it that way after the peace and scale of Saltburn. But of course, no cathedral…no city so thanks for being so particular! I also had Millau with one ‘l’ in an earlier edition. Thank goodness I sorted that out! Funnily enough, another of my readers was in Corfu reading Pillow Talk when the mention of Suggitts and Great Ayton suddenly had her pining for home and an ice cream! Thanks Jane - so glad you enjoyed it! FN

I bought Secrets, and then left it sitting by the bed…waiting for the perfect weekend to indulge. Given that I’m in the middle of a Southern hemisphere winter, my perfect weekend soon arrived with promise of rain, rain and more rain and no outdoor distractions…
I knew I’d love it, it was just a matter of how much! I had to pace myself so I didn’t gobble it up to quickly and make sure that I read every paragraph, as I have a tendency when things get exciting to start skimming ahead as I want to know what happens next!
So, to sum up, it has met my expectations and more. As always, I love the realness of the characters, and that I can imagine myself thinking their thoughts. I’m not actually sure why that’s important - but to me it is!
I’m just in awe that you are able to churn these amazing books out. There’s just something very cool about people who make a living out of creative stuff. Probably because it feels unattainable for me!
Well done and pats on the back! I aspire to be half as clever as you are!

Have read all your books (in order of publishing) and really loved secrets, always a little sad when I’ve finished as I have awhile to wait for my next fix. I often start at the beginning and reread them all. Love the idea of a prequal going back to visit the McCabes, Django was a very lovable chararter, but still my fav is Chloe. Keep up the good work!.

Jo - all the way down under… Hullo and thanks for this! But I don’t think I’m clever at all…. in fact at school they always complained that my results suffered because I was such a day-dreamer. I feel so very lucky that for a living, I now
daydream and then write it all down in a book!
Mrs Sandy - Django WILL return in that prequel…but there’s another story I’m itching to write in the meantime!

Just finished Secrets and like all your books absolutely loved it. Fell in love with Joe and thought what a great friend Tess would make! Please keep writing such great books with such loveable characters, can’t wait for the next one.

Freya!! Great books! And clever service station on the way to Bournemouth for having your ’secrets’ glaring out at me on the shelf there! Popped in there and the family wanted to get going so i just made a mental note in my head; ‘Look into Freya north’s books when we get back to london.’ That was a few months and a few books ago! Very few authors have done the trick so well for me and I’m a VERY avid reader!! I’m devouring yours off the shelf and loving every minute of it!

I am trying to convert all my friends and family! I bought Secrets on its first day of release and have so far bought two more copies for friends’ birthdays. So I am doing my best to keep you in the best sellers chart. Bring on the next book, I am hungry for more. And as for saltburn, I’d never even heard of it before, but your descriptions make it sound fab - I definitely need to venture north to see the town in reality, not just in print. You make it sound wonderful. My only question; why aren’t men as romantic in real life as they sound in your books?!

A friend sent me Secrets (and Pillow Talk which I’ll be reading next) and I loved it, couldn’t put it down!
I now want to visit Saltburn too

Tracey you MUST read the books of Fen’s sisters Pip and Cat. Pip is still my favourite of Freya’s books having read them all.
I started with Pip when I got it free with a magazine…I was utterly enthralled by this amazing character. I love the flaws of the characters and that the expected and conventional does not always take place!
Im such a fan. When I see a Freya North novel in a shop I still stop to read the blurb even though I have that and every Freya North book at home! I am itching for a new book.
All the best for the future.
Best Wishes,
Jenny

Hi Freya
Just finished “Secrets” in a week - I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved “Pillow Talk” too - especially because they are based in the North and in areas that I know, this makes the story feel even more “real”. Thank You

HI Freya North,
Thought you might be interested to know that my class, 3rd year BSC Interior Design at Glasgow Caledonian Univeristy, are at the moment hard at work producing stage designs based on your short radio play ‘Fish and Chips’. Would be lovely to hear from you with comments on how you would imagine the play to look. I am sure that the University would be happy to offer an invitation for you come and view the completed designs and give feedback if that is something you would be interested in. Our submission date is the 29th of October.
Thank you.

Hi Freya,
Even in Holland you’ve got big fans, preferring te read your books in English, because that gives them something extra which you can’t find in a translation, however good it’s been translated. My favourite is Love Rules.
When is your next book coming and what will it be about?
Best wishes,
Mirjam.
