I believe there is a problem with some of your Kindle versions of CHANCES. I’m gutted. HarperCollins are on the case and I will have news for you anon. In the meantime, please do email me and let me know if your version is playing up.
In my opinion, nothing beats a paperback… in, er, paperback!!
When I was a struggling, unpublished author, I worked freelance as a picture-researcher for many years and really studied how people react to books – when they buy them, as well as during and after reading. Think about it – when you finish a book (a ‘real’ book), you tend to close it, you then re-read the blurb on the back and then you turn it over and study the jacket design. The physical book itself quickly becomes a treasured possession, its pages filled with personal memories as much as the story itself. That’s why we love to keep our favourite books – we are loathed to loan them out even to trusted friends!
I’d write with quill on parchment if I could. Freya x

I thought you’d like to see what has pride of place on my study door!

This was sent to me by great pals in the USA (hullo Paul and Carolyn!)
It’s been a productive week for me – and an exciting one too, with the publication of Chances now less than 3 weeks away. HarperCollins have great things in store for this 11th novel of mine – thanks, chaps! For a gal who spends most her year with people who don’t exist I really love the lead-up to publication and the interaction with my fab team at my publishers. I’m also doing a number of articles for newspapers and magazines – I enjoy this, though having a word limit of 800-1500 words is SO tough… I’d rather have 140,000 words to play with any day!
We’re still trying to sort the technical glitches on my website – I’m aware that the Gallery, Competition and Contact pages have a mind of their own at the mo’. Hopefully, we’ll be up and running again soon.

If you’re on facebook and you haven’t yet joined my page, I’d love to see you there too. www.facebook.com/freya.north
And if you have any spare pocket money this weekend, might I make a cheeky suggestion… pre-order your copy of Chances at a fab price!
